Beku Gelato started with a simple idea, to create flavours that felt like home.

Founded by Agusta in 2013 from her home basement, Beku was born from a love of gelato and a desire to bring something different to Melbourne’s dessert scene. Drawing from Agusta’s Indonesian roots, alongside the rich influence of Indian flavours within her family, Beku quickly became known for its distinctive and unexpected take on gelato.

What began as a small concept has grown into a well-loved gelato destination on Lygon Street, Carlton. Recognised for its Southeast Asian-inspired flavours, ever-evolving monthly menu, and loyal community.

Today, Beku blends traditional gelato-making techniques with bold, nostalgic flavours. Around 70% of the menu is inspired by Indonesian and Southeast Asian ingredients, balanced with a selection of Italian classics. Everything is made in-house using quality ingredients, with no artificial colours or preservatives.
